Summer Hanford

I’m so happy to have you on my website! Thank you for visiting.

Take a look around and see if there’s anything you like.

I grew up on a dairy farm in the Finger Lakes Region of New York and, much as I love animals, always knew I wanted to go to college (you don’t have to get up as early there). I got a bachelor’s degree in psychology (long story) and went on to do graduate and doctoral work in behavioral neurology (even longer story). Eventually I realized I didn’t enjoy that work much (or at all by that point) and returned to my childhood dream of being an author (established when I first learned to read, and read A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin). Now I write in multiple genres; Epic Fantasy, Historical Romance, and Pride & Prejudice Variations (no, those second two aren’t the same thing…you’d be surprised).

My five-novel YA Epic Fantasy Series, Thrice Born, was picked up by Martin Sisters Publishing in 2011, and their faith in me was all the encouragement I needed to start writing up a storm. Then, in 2014, Renata McMann asked me to become her partner in writing Pride & Prejudice Variations (which only fueled the writing madness within me as we’ve had lots of amazon number-one best sellers in the US and around the world).

Now, I’m working on my second Epic Fantasy series for adults (meaning not YA, and the first being The Rise of the Summer God Series…no relation), and working on more Austenesque variations to see how much adventure I can bring into the lives of Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and all of their friends, enemies, and relations.
